Here is a subject that the Cocktail Snob cannot avoid discussing.

Although the web master of this site (and author of this article) only drinks booze of any sort about three times per month, you can be sure it is being done properly when it is in fact done at all.

As Trader Vic once said:
"Trader Vic's is dedicated to those merry souls who make drinking a pleasure -
Who achieve contentedness long before capacity
And who, whenever they drink, prove able to carry it, enjoy it,
And remain gentlemen."

The Trader was a gentleman, and we try to be too.

But sometimes... it adds up.

People have all sorts of fancy-pants voodoo that they will preach as hangover remedies, but the key is preventitive maintanance during your night out.  A few steps taken the night before makes the morning after so much easer to manage.

Here's our help for hangovers:

1.
Drink a glass of water between each cocktail.
This will keep you hydrated, keep your liver and kidneys from getting overloaded with nasty stuff, and will make you drink your hootch a bit slower.
Booze (paradoxically) sucks the water from your system, and 90% of your hangover is due to dehydration.

2.
Drink quality liquors mixed with fresh juices and no artificial ingredients.

All of the sugary chemicals that fill cheap mixers and sticky liquers contribute as much to the hangover as the booze does.
Better liquors are made with better ingredients, and better ingredients are more agreeable to the system.
And you'll enjoy them more.

3.
Pop some Vitamin B complex right after your last drink.

4.
Have another full pint glass of water before bed.

5.
Try to stay up long enough to sober up a bit; never fall asleep wasted.

6.
Get as many hours of sleep as you can.
